Know the symptoms of SEPSIS

Sepsis is a rare but serious complication of an infection. If your child has any of these symptoms you should take immediate action:

  • Looks mottled, blueish or pale
  • Is very lethargic or difficult to wake
  • Feels abnormally cold to touch
  • Is breathing very fast
  • Has a rash that does not fade when you press it
  • Has a fit or convulsion

Acting quickly could save your child's life. If your child has any of these symptoms, don't be afraid to go straight to A&E or call 999. For more information visit nhs.uk/sepsis or sepsistrust.org

Be Tick Aware

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection that can be spread to humans by infected ticks. It's usually easier to treat if it's diagnosed early. Symptoms are a circular red rash around a tick bite. Find out more.

Parking

In response to feedback from patients, we are working to free up more car parking spaces at Battle Health Centre so you have space to park when you visit for your appointment. We have written to local residents and businesses and are introducing staff parking permits to discourage commuters from parking in our spaces all day. Health Centre spaces are marked with 'HC' and are shown in pink and blue on the attached map. In Robertsbridge we are looking for spaces off site for staff to park. If you have any recommendations, please let us know.

Free Wifi in our waiting areas

Free Wifi is now available in the waiting room at Oldwood Surgery and Battle Health Centre. Simply select 'NHS WiFi' in your phone settings. We would be grateful if you would keep the sound switched off so as not to disturb other patients that may be waiting.

GP Patient Survey & Friends and Family

The results of our independent GP Patient Survey run by Ipsos MORI on behalf of NHS England have been published. We are delighted with the results and would like to thank all patients that responded. We also continue to receive good feedback from our Friends and Family Survey. In August 2018 94% of patients would recommend us. The full results are available here.

Change to recall system for annual review appointments

We now call patients in for their annual review during the month of their Birthday.  We feel this will not only help our staff but also patients will be able to remember when their annual review is due.  This applies to patients with the following long term conditions:

Asthma, Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Heart Disease, Stroke, Chronic Airways Disease (COPD).

The Practice will only now send one invite letter. Patients are asked to contact the Surgery to arrange their own suitable appointment date and time.

TELEPHONES - our calls show as withheld

Please be aware that our telephone number is 'withheld' as NHS policy and if you are expecting a telephone consultation with one of our GP's the number will not be shown.

Check your own blood pressure using our self-service BP machine

It is important to be aware of your blood pressure because the higher your blood pressure is, the higher your risk of potential health problems in the future.
You can now check your own blood pressure at Battle Health Centre using our new blood pressure machine which can be found in reception along with a step by step guide on how to do this.
