Travel Vaccinations

If you are planning to travel outside the UK, you may need to be vaccinated against some of the serious diseases found in other parts of the world.

Vaccinations are available to protect you against infections such as yellow fever, typhoid and hepatitis A.

In the UK, the NHS routine immunisation schedule protects you against a number of diseases, but doesn't cover all of the infectious diseases found overseas.

When should I start thinking about the vaccines I need?

If possible, see the nurse or a private travel clinic at least 8 weeks before you are due to travel. Some vaccines need to be given well in advance to allow your boxy to develop immunity; others involve a number of doses spread over several weeks or months.

Which travel vaccines do I need?

The NHS Website provides useful links to websites to help you find out which vaccines are necessary or recommended for the areas you will be visiting.

Contact our reception team to find out whether your existing UK vaccinations are up to date. We will provide you with a copy of your immunisation history from your Medical Record. If you have had any vaccinations from other travel clinics, let us know and we can update your records.

Where do I get my travel vaccines?

We can provide your travel vaccinations; or you may prefer to visit a private travel clinic or pharmacy offering travel healthcare services which may be able to offer greater flexibility with appointments.

Do I have to pay for my travel vaccines?

Some travel vaccinations are free on the NHS; others you have to pay for. Full details are available on the NHS Website
